KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Hybrid flexibility without the footprint: Mimaki’s UJ330H-160 enables both roll and rigid printing in one machine, helping printers expand capabilities without investing in separate equipment.
- Bring more production in-house: Enhanced media handling supports everything from thin films to 2-inch rigid boards, allowing printers to reduce outsourcing and increase margin opportunities.
- Output with efficiency: Proprietary technology, UV ink compliance, and integrated software tools support applications like multilayer effects and textured finishes.
Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd. launches a new hybrid UV-LED inkjet printer as an addition to its flagship 330 Series of large-format inkjet printers from Mimaki. The UJ330H-160 is "one machine for a wide range of graphics production," the company states in a press release.
This hybrid UV-LED printer is designed to switch between roll and rigid output in a single unit without the need for the large space and capital investment usually associated with a dedicated 4x8' flatbed device. Mimaki says the printer is "positioned as the next standard for graphic production sites such as sign makers and commercial printers."
To achieve stable output to various roll materials, this product uses a newly developed belt-transport system. Thin films and fabrics can be difficult to handle with conventional transport methods using grit rollers. With the belt-transport systems, materials be transported without losing proper tension or creating wrinkles. As a result, production of window graphics and fabric signage for exhibition booth and retail spaces becomes possible with a single footprint.
In addition, the transport system also provides stability when outputting rigid materials. The auto-vacuum and front and rear lock roller units allow transport of large and oversized materials, such as 4x8' aluminum composite plates and up to 2-inch-thick rigid boards. Sheet media production — traditionally relying on mounting processes and outsourcing — can be shifted fully in-house.
This printer is also equipped with a print engine that combines a high-density, high-definition printhead and proprietary image quality control technology. From uniform solids to smooth, subtle gradients, it faithfully reproduces with high productivity with a practical throughput of 150.6 ft2/h (when using CMYK + White + Clear or CMYK LcLm + White ink set).
The UV ink used in this product is designed to be free of substances of very high concern as specified in the European REACH regulations and carcinogen, mutagen, and reproductive toxicant. These standard contribute to a safe workplace for operators and the environment.
Integrated with RasterLink7 RIP software, it enables control of high-value printing such as UV-specific multilayer and high-build effects and gloss/matte finishes using clear ink. The cloud-based monitoring tool PICT visualizes output status, providing support from printing through management.
The sale of the UJ330H-160 hybrid UV inkjet printer is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and expected to sell 400 units per year worldwide.
