Kornit Digital Acquires PrintFactory to Accelerate Industry’s Transition to On-Demand Production
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Leaning into digital transformation: Kornit’s acquisition reflects a broader shift toward on-demand manufacturing.
- Workflow automation as a competitive necessity: Tools that streamline workflows and ensure reliable output are becoming essential for scaling efficiently.
- Connected production: Integrating demand, production, and fulfillment into one ecosystem enables more agile, responsive operations.
Kornit Digital, a manufacturer of digital printing equipment for apparel, announces the acquisition of PrintFactory, a Netherlands-based provider of cloud-native workflow, color management, and production automation software. The move is part of Kornit’s broader strategy to accelerate the shift to digital, on-demand production in the global textile and apparel industry.
By integrating PrintFactory’s automation capabilities into its platform, Kornit looks to strengthen its ability to connect demand generation, production workflow, and fulfillment into one continuous digital ecosystem.
Expanding Digital Access in Screen Printing
Screen printing remains one of the largest segments in apparel decoration but relies heavily on analog processes. As demand for digital grows, many producers still face challenges transitioning, especially around workflow complexity, system integration, and output consistency.
According to Kornit, PrintFactory’s technology addresses these gaps by enabling unified workflow management and consistent production across mixed environments, helping simplify the move to digital.
Improving Efficiency and Production Consistency
Kornit says the iintegration of PrintFactory adds capabilities like:
- Streamlined workflows from file prep to final output
- Reduced ink and media waste
- Faster, more efficient production environments
- Consistent results across multiple locations and technologies
PrintFactory is already deployed across a community of more than 10,000 active users, including several of Kornit's largest customers. By combining workflow automation, color management infrastructure, and production technology, Kornit says it can better support customers running scalable digital manufacturing operations.
“This acquisition is about more than workflow or color management,” Ronen Samuel, CEO of Kornit Digital said in a press release. “It is about building the digital infrastructure the fashion industry needs to move from analog production to agile, on-demand manufacturing. By connecting demand generation, production workflow, and manufacturing through one integrated platform, we are accelerating the industry’s transition to a new production model.”
Erik Strik, CEO of PrintFactory, added: “For more than three decades, PrintFactory has focused on solving real workflow and production challenges for professional print operations. Joining Kornit opens an exciting new chapter. Kornit’s global reach, innovation culture and platform vision will accelerate our roadmap and significantly expand the value we deliver to customers worldwide.”
Upon closing, expected in Q2 of 2026, PrintFactory will continue to operate from its headquarters in the Netherlands and serve its existing global customer base and partners across all markets.
